The AESKULISA - gastroenterology panel offers kits for the diagnosis of Celiac disease, Crohns disease, Ulcerative Colitis und Pernicious Anaemia.
Celiac Disease – is caused by an incompatibility with the cereal storage protein gluten. Patients suffer from various symptoms like diarrhoea, bloating, fatigue, malnutrition (anaemia) and may have associated diseases like diabetes mellitus type I, osteoporosis or lymphomes. They often remain undiagnosed for a long time. At this moment only 1 in 7 celiac disease patients is diagnosed and the prevalence of celiac disease is estimated to be between 0.5 – 1% of the population.
The AESKULISA tTg New Generation uses a unique antigen approach derived from recent scientific discoveries. The tTg Neo-Epitope: human tissue transglutaminase crosslinked with deamidated gliadin specific peptides is able to detect three kinds of celiac disease related antibodies.
With this approach the AESKULISA tTg New Generation is able to diminish the amount of undetected celiac disease patients.
Crohns disease and Ulcerative colitis – The clinical manifestations of these two diseases are often very similar and due to the specific therapies and potential complications it is important to differentiate.
The AESKULISA ASCA assays which detect Anti-Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Antibodies offer a specific (80-98%) and sensitive (50%) tool for the diagnosis of Crohns disease and offer a high positive predictive value of 90-95%.
Pernicious Anaemia – is the final stage of autoimmune gastritis
